A staggering elevation of more than 1,800 metres will have to be surmounted to win the race starting in St. Niklaus at 1,085 metres above sea level, up to the world- famous resort of Zermatt (1,616 m.a.s.l.), and finishing on Riffelberg, towering 2,582 metres above sea level amidst 29 four- thousand- meter summits. An immensity of wild nature along this marathon course of 42.195 kilometres awaits discovery.
